Demonstration Sites
Coming SoonNatural and Community Gardens at Pacific Park NBB partnered with the City of Vancouver to install a 2.2 acre demonstration site that will be ready for the opening of the park in June 2008. The site will showcase community garden space (thanks to Florence Wagner) and mini garden spaces that are typical of Clark County urban yards. |
Main Street Pocket ParkLocated downtown on Main Street and 20th Avenue the NBB Program has installed a pocket park between Main Street Day Spa and H&R Block. This project allows residents to stroll into an urban planting area that features permeable surfaces, drought tolerant and native plants, as well as benches for resting and enjoying the view. Each method showcased in the pocket park provides ideas that are easy to replicate in urban yards and gardens. |

The NBB Program has partnered with the Water Resources Education Center to provide a public demonstration garden that exemplifies natural gardening techniques. As a component of Clark County Solid Waste, the NBB Program strives to reduce and/or eliminate the use of toxics in home environments thereby decreasing household hazardous waste, toxic run-off into area streams and rivers, and increasing the livability and overall health of the community. The Water Resources Education Center natural garden emphasizes urban wildlife. Visit this lovely site on the Columbia River that is planted with 85% natives creating an inviting and natural habitat for local wildlife. The site includes a water feature, multiple bird-feeding areas, a living fence, native and nectar plants, and is adjacent to a wetland area and the Waterfront Trail along the Columbia River. The Water Resources Education Center is located at 4600 SE Columbia Way, Vancouver. |
